On behalf of the Editorial team of Journal of Pharmacy and BioAllied Sciences (JPBS), I wish our readers a very Happy New Year 2012. It is a matter of great happiness for me and my team to introduce Volume 4, issue 1 of JBPS. Year 2011 was the year of novelty and changes for JPBS. In the year 2011, we publish a special issue on Calorimetric techniques to study the interaction of drugs with biomembranI am delighted to know that the National Conference on "Advances in Drug Delivery Technologies" is being organized by Gujarat Technological University in collaboration with Baroda College of Pharmacy and Parul Institute of Pharmacy during 24-25th March 2012 at Ahmedabad Management Association, Ahmedabad.
Shrinking global capital markets, new healthcare policies, ageing populations, the growth of emerging economies, technological advances and the advent of regenerative and biological medicines are just some of the challenging factors to shape the future drug delivery system.
The drug delivery technology landscape is highly collaborative, competitive and rapidly evolving. The market involves both numerous startups and major players in the medical device, pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. The benefits from targeted, localized delivery of certain therapeutic agents are another driving force in this cutting edge of scientific research.
I hope the National Conference will certainly provide an ideal platform for young pharmacy researchers to present their contributions made towards development of new drug delivery systems to benefit the society as a whole.
I congratulate the organizers and convey my greetings to all the delegates from industry, academics and research organizations, who have taken the responsibilities for addressing the above issues and wish the/Conference a grand success.
